Now that Little Miss is in our lives, we’ve spent quite a bit of time personalizing her nursery. The first project on our list was to create some kind of art for the wall over her crib. After some debate we settled on butterflies and started looking for inspiration online. Our search gave us several ideas that we really liked:
We wanted to combine these ideas and using a tutorial featured on marthastewart.com (found here) we set to work. We decided to hang our garlands on a branch from a tree in our yard which led to Joseph climbing our tree in flip-flops with a hand saw (a feat which terrified myself and our neighbor). In the end Joseph accomplished his climb safely and we now love the butterfly decor in our nursery!
We were also looking for some art to hang over the changing table. A close friend of ours gave us a needlepoint featuring baby Disney characters, so we opted for an art wall featuring various Disney scenes and characters.
We purchased all of the frames at our local thrift store and spray painted them white. All of the artwork was purchased on etsy.com from these sellers:
1. EcoCycled (Winnie the Pooh and friends on vintage upcycled dictionary art print)
2. RachelsMagicalPrints (Set of 5 Disney princess silhouettes)
3. ShopLittles (Nursery art inspired by Disney Pixar movie Up)
We also finished up the nursery with just a few final pieces of furniture. We love our glider from Pottery Barn Kids, despite the fact that it arrived 3 months late! Our toy chest is from Target and has such a neat feature — it stays open at any angle, so it won’t slam shut on tiny fingers. So great!
