Exploring the Desert with Fish and Ares

Now that I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy, finding enjoyable, low-impact ways to stay active is a must.  Fortunately the weather in southern Nevada during February is fantastic (think 60-70 degrees and sunny), so we decided to spend part of two weekends exploring the desert in Lincoln County.  We found plenty of trails for dirt bikes and four wheelers, but generally had the place to ourselves both times.  Fish and Ares adored the freedom and space to romp, while Joseph and I appreciated the beautiful scenery.  IMG_0134

We’re pretty sure their level of enjoyment can be measured by the length of their tongues. 🙂

IMG_0145 IMG_0153A few necessities for a desert romp:

1.  Water (and plenty of it!)

2.  Pliers.  Our dogs are pretty aware of their surroundings, but those cacti will sneak up on them occasionally.  Having some method of removing the burrs from their fur and paws without tearing up your own hands is a must!

3.  Layers.  The wind is often quite unpredictable.
